Various kinds of antibacterial agents have been developed for inhibition or treatment of implant-associated bacterial infection; chemical drug, cationic polymer, silver ion, and so on. However, the cytotoxicity and limited application of lots of bacteria present a question about conventional and commercial antibacterial agents. Recently, nitric oxide (NO), which is a radical gas in vivo, has been issued for its versatile action on antibacterial and wound healing. However, the cytotoxicity and uncontrolled NO release of NO-delivery carriers are obstacles to be overcome for the practical application of NO on antibacterial activity. Herein, we synthesized NO delivery vesicle based on outstandingly biocompatible pluronic F68. We developed and characterized F68-BPEI1800-NONOates, then analyzed NO release kinetics and antibacterial activity. |
