Lyocell, which is made from environmental-friendly nMMO, has been refocused as an alternative of Rayon, which is usually regenerated from toxic solvents. However, Lyocell is known to have dense crystal structure that it becomesmore brittle than Rayon. In this study, acid treated MWNT (A-MWNT) and untreated MWNT (P-MWNT) were mixed with nMMO during in MWNT improve electro conductivity of lyocell. A-MWNT showed good dispersion due to introduction of –OH and –COOH groups on the MWNTs, and improved electro-conductivity in the composite A-MWNT/Lyocell. However, the electro-conductivity values of A-MWNT/Lyocell were lower compared to P-MWNT/Lyocell, because acid treatment destroyed the texture of MWNT. In case of P-MWNT/Lyocell, it is hard to make film or fiber with increased MWNT concentration, because there’s no bonding capability with cellulose. The morphologies and structures were investigated by using SEM and X-ray scattering to establish the structure and property relationship. |
