A series of solution-processable electrochromic aromatic polyimides with triarylamine units in the backbone were prepared by the chemical imidazation from newly synthesized 6 diamine monomers and various dianhydride (ODPA), 3,3’4,4’-Benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTDA), 3,3’,4,4’- Diphenylsulfone tetracarboxylic dianhydride (DSDA). These polymers were highly soluble in many organic solvents but showed low levels of thermal stability associated with high glass-transition temperatures having electron donor groups in the positions of triphenylamino moiety show excellent Polyimides showed reversible electrochemical oxidation and electrochromisim than the corresponding derivateives having electron withdrawing substituents. The molecular structures of the polyimides were analyzed by means of fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), UV spectroscopy and Cyclic voltammograms (C-V) |
