Study on Segmented Polyurethane Containing Siloxane Chain |

Polyurethane (PU) is known to offer high performance by controlled of soft segment and hard segment. Generally, the soft segment consists of a dihydroxy terminated chain, providing a low glass transition temperature and flexibility. The hard segment is formed by the reaction of diisocyanate and dihydroxy group. Segmented PU of phase-separated morphologies is formed due to the thermodynamic incompatibility of soft and hard segments. Segmented PU has many advantages; good elasticity, flexibility and good mechanical properties. In this study, we synthesized PU by polycarbonyl diol (PCD), hexamethylene diisocyanate (IPDI) and monodicarbinol terminated polydimethylsiloxane. As the siloxane content increased, the molecular weight and hardness of the PU increase. The PU property was investigated by gel permeating chromatography (GPC), shore JA, thermomechanical analysis (TMA) and rheometer. |
