A series of novel Zn(II)-porphyrin dyes containing variable electron-donating groups with long alkoxy substituents and a cyanoacrylic acid as the electron acceptor which are linked by π-conjugated bridge system such as phenylene moiety, was developed for use in dye-sensitized solar cells. These porphyrins were designed to prevent dye aggregation and charge recombination by wrapping the porphyrin dye with long alkoxy chain in the ortho position of each meso-phenyl ring and donor units. These Zn(II)-porphyrin dyes have been used to fabricate dye-sensitized solar cells based on liquid electrolytes. Here, synthesis, characterization and DSSC performance will be presented. |
