Microcystin-LR (MC-LR), a strong hepatotoxic active component and a tumor promoter, has dramatically became a major toxicant in potable water with increasing number of algae in fresh water. Electrochemical oxidation is one of the effective technologies to solve this problem. Dimensional stable anode (DSA) and boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrodes, which are two well-known anode materials, have shown excellent performance in generating chlorine (Cl2) and hydroxyl radical (∙OH), respectively. However, the high cost and complicated process in fabricating them are a big obstacle for further development. Here, we investigated blue and black TiO2 nanotube array (Blue and Black TiO2 NTA) electrodes with low-cost titania-based materials. These two novel electrodes were used as anode materials and successfully eliminated MC-LR. |
