For synergistic chemotherapy, the pH-responsive gold nanocluster was designed by utilizing i-motif DNA sequences. The dehybridization of i-motif/RNAi duplex at acidic conditions leads to the release of drug-sensitizing antisense RNA(bcl-2) and Doxorubicin(DOX), resulting in the significant enhancement of anticancer effects. In addition, self-assembled nanoparticles via multivalent host-guest chemistry between paclitaxel(PTX) and β-cyclodextrin(CD) were developed as a novel PTX delivery platform. Each polymerized CD and PTX(pCD and pPTX) allows the formation of stable nano-sized inclusion complex owing to the strong multivalent host-guest interactions. The ester bonds between polymers and PTX facilitate the intracellular esterase-responsive drug release, which eventually showed a long-term suppression of tumor growth in vivo. Furthermore, we have recently reported versatile NO-coating platforms and the NO-releasing ointments. The NO-modified surfaces showed the efficient antibacterial effects with excellent biocompatibility. |
