Visible Light Active Cuxo Muffled Rhodium-Antimony Co-Doped TiO2 Nanorods Photocatalyst Synthesized By Molten Salt Flux Route: Photocatalytic Degradation of Orange (II) Dye |

In this work, effect of CuxO impregnation on acid treated and non-treated, rhodium and antimony co-doped rutile-type TiO2 nanorod (Rh-Sb co-doped TiO2NR) photocatalysts were studied comprehensively. The photocatalysts have been characterized by FESEM, XRD, EXAFS, UV-DRS and XPS. EXAFS conformed that the doping of Rh and/or Sb into TiO2 does not change the symmetric environment around a titanium atom. The band gap energy of acid treated co-doped sample was observed at 2.06eV in the visible light region. Under the visible light irradiation of λ ≥ 420 nm, CuxO loaded acid treated Rh-Sb co-doped sample showed higher photocatalytic Orange (II) dye degradation activity in comparison of TiO2 doped with Rh and/or Sb samples. The maximum photocatalytic degradation efficiency of 97% was achieved for 2wt% of CuxO loaded acid treated co-doped sample. The fine dispersion of small copper nanoparticles were identified through TEM and STEM analysis. We also discussed the mechanism of enhanced photocatalytic activity based on their copper loading. |
