제목 PDI-based small molecule acceptors for efficient fullerene-free organic solar cell : A study on the effect of the molecular arrangement of PDI molecules on Power Conversion Efficiency
초록 Perylene diimide (PDI)-containing molecules have been used for application in non-fullerene-based organic solar cells (OSCs). A closer look into reported PDI-based acceptor molecules reveals that two or three PDI molecules arranged mainly in side-on or edge-on direction only. In this work, we synthesized new PDI-based small molecule acceptors (W1-PDI and W2-PDI) which were arranged with both directions to compare with W0-PDI with strong crystallinity as reference. While W1-PDI showed a tendency that the planarity decreases in comparison to W0-PDI; W2-PDI displayed rather opposite tendency. In the results of OSC devices, W1-PDI showed higher power conversion efficiency (PCE=3.10%) than W2-PDI (PCE=1.43%). The results demonstrated that the molecules having twisted structure for alleviating the crystallinity not only bring about the improvement of device performance but also results in adverse effect according to the molecular geometry.
