This study attempted to apply the pre-photocharged TiO2/Al2O3/WO3 (TAW) membrane filter to redox reactions of inorganic pollutants (Chromate and arsenite) in dark. The adding Al2O3 layer enables the more charged electrons transfer to WO3, it can be enhanced and is assigned to its contribution on the blocking of the WO3 back electron transfer to TiO2. With the introduction of Al2O3, the efficiency of Cr(VI) reduction is increased with the rising amount of alumina. However, Oxidation of As(III) was significantly reduced. Interestingly, the Al2O3 effect elicited opposing results of redox reactions. This is a newly discovered phenomenon during the charging discharge process of inserting alumina, which can support the idea that the charging/discharge process may not proceed well unconditionally depending on the mechanism. |
