Currently the development of microwave absorbing materials has attracted attention due to the increasing use of high frequency equipment such as a wireless LAN, computer, automobile communication and other electronic products. Three kinds of electromagnetic wave absorption mechanisms, i.e., dielectric loss, conductive loss and magnetic loss, are well known. Thus, the intrinsic properties of materials such as the permeability, permittivity and conductivity are dominant factors to absorb microwave. Among these materials, conductive carbon fibers have the merits of a low density, a high modulus, a high strength and a low cost. In this study, carbon fiber/epoxy composites were fabricated using an electron beam curing technique. And their microwave absorbing characteristics were analyzed using a network analyzer. |
