The nanocomposites which consist of polymers and inorganic nanoparticles (NPs) have attracted great interest due to their infinite potential to diverse applications such as solar cell, sensors, catalysts and ferroelectric devices. In our previous work, we successfully synthesized thermally-stable Au NPs using UV-crosslinkable polymer ligands and demonstrated that the Au NPs can be used as compatibilizers in PS/PMMA homopolymer blends. In this work, we investigate the effect of Au NPs on the morphologies of PS-b-PMMA thin film. To control the interfacial interaction between PS-b-PMMA block copolymer and Au nanoparticles, we further tune the surface chemistry of thermally-stable Au NPs by adjusting the composition of the ligands. The polymers and resulting nanocomposites films were characterized by GPC, AFM and TEM. |
