Polymer/nanoparticle hybrid materials, which are nanocomposites have been investigated for many years due to their fascinative properties. To control the dispersion of inorganic nanoparticles within polymer matrix, thiol-terminated polymers have been often used as a stabilizing ligand to tune surface property of the nanoparticle. However, the interaction between the thiol group and metal is insecure with increasing temperature. To achieve the thermally-stable Au and Janus Au nanoparticles with precisely tuned surface property, we designed various UV-crosslinkable polymeric ligands, which have various compositions of polar methyl methacrylate and non-polar styrene units. After crosslinking the Au and Janus Au nanoparticles, it was found that these nanoparticles have superb stability at high temperature. Also we could control the location of the nanoparticles within the polymer matrix. |
