Injectable Formulation Based on Hyaluronic Acid and PEG-TRAIL as a Potential Therapeutics for Arthritis and Cancer |

Tumor Necrosis Factor related Apoptosis Inducing Ligand(TRAIL) is known to exhibit antitumor and antiinflammatory effects. PEG-TRAIL is a derivative of TRAIL that has similar bioactivity, increased stability, and improved pharmacokinetic profiles. An injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) based PEG-TRAIL formulation was developed for sustained release of PEG-TRAIL while maintaining its stability. PEG-TRAIL/HA hydrogel formulation was prepared by adding HA powder to PEG-TRAIL/HA complex solution. To confirm formation of the PEG-TRAIL/HA complex, the particle size and zeta potential were measured using the dynamic light scattering and the zetasizer. Bioactivity of PEG-TRAIL/HA complex was evaluated in HeLa cell line in vitro. Release of PEG-TRAIL from the formulation was observed by the molecular imaging technique after subcutaneous injection into the mice. This study about PEG-TRAIL/HA formulation might be good approach to treat a cancer or autoimmune diseases. |
