Spiropyrans (SPs) change close form to merocyanine through isomerization by external stimuli such as UV-vis light, metal ions, and thermal energy. Because we can observe the vivid color of merocyanine, SPs are utilized to colorimetric sensor. We can substitute the functional group easily using click chemistry. Triazole linkage made by Cu-catalyzed alkyne-azide cycloaddition (CuAAC) can be helpful metal binding and often use substitution of a various functional groups. In this study, we can synthesize two compounds of spiropyrans that functionalized side group. The binding model of metal sensing was suitable for the 1:2 binding model via Metlab. Ethylene glycol-functionalized SP (EG-SP) showed more sensitive to metal ions than benzyl-functionalized SP (BtSP) as calculating binding constant K. Also, EG-SP has the good solubility in solution up to 90% water/CH3CN. The application of EG-SP is a paper sensor for cyanide solution due to the obvious color changing. |
