제목 Applications of the functionalized cholesteric liquid crystal double-emulsion hollow droplets prepared by microfluidics
초록 Uniform-sized cholesteric liquid crystal double-emulsion (CLCDE) hollow droplets were prepared by a microfluidic method. The CLCDE droplets in aqueous solution showed the unique defect structures and colors at the center which were dependent on the surface anchoring conditions. The CLCDE hollow droplets decorated with PAA-b-LCP (PAA: polyacrylic acid and LCP: side chain LC polymer) showed the structural change between parallel and perpendicular anchoring with respect to pH in aqueous solution. This structural change from parallel to perpendicular anchoring may cause color disappearance due to removal of the regular helical structure. Several enzymes (such as glucose oxidase, cholesterol oxidase, and urease) were immobilized to PAA on the CLCDE droplets. The enzyme-immobilized CLCDE hollow droplets were successfully demonstrated for biosensors with different colors inside the CLCDE hollow droplets for bar-code applications.
