제목 | Molecular Ordering of Supramolecule in the Confined Area |
초록 | We have investigated the behavior of a linear supramolecular material having perfluorinated chain. Synchrotron X-ray diffraction, polarized light microscopy results show this material exhibits lamellar structure upon heating and cooling. This structure is changed by substrates; between sandwiched hydrophilic surfaces there appears a very long range line structure, while without cover various-size toroidal defects were found. Interestingly, in confined area with similar surface condition above, new phase was observed by using scattering and microscope method. We were able to generate defect domains that are not only nearly uniform in size but also arranged in quasi-2D ordered patterns without cover. Atomic force microscopy measurements revealed that defects have regular toroidal topology which are connected every single spot. With sandwiched confined surfaces, very uniform Rugby ball morphologies were appeared regularly with very long range, which have undulation periodically. This method opens the possibility for exploiting the unique optical and rheological properties associated with novel behaviors to making new materials. For example, the control of the shape, size, and spatial arrangement of the defects and very uniformly repeated morphology at the mesoscale suggests applications in patterning, bio-membrane, and template. From these, we expect that desired structure can be obtained by control substrate conditions. |
