제목 The use of cross-linkable electron blocking layer to improve device performances in blue polymer light-emitting diodes
초록 High efficiency blue polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs) were obtained by adding an cross-linkable polymeric electron blocking layer (EBL) between a hole-transport layer (HTL) and an emitting polymer layer (EML). The devices, with configuration of indium tin oxide(ITO)/ hole-transport layer(65nm)/ EBL(10-20nm)/ EML(70nm)/ BaF2(2nm)/ Ca(50nm)/ Al(300nm), were fabricated by spin coating and thermal evaporation. In this device structure, the EBL containing cross-linkable molecules shows a strong solvent resistance, mechanically robust and impervious to spin coating of next emitting polymer layer. In addition, it has a relatively higher band gap, especially lowest-unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) level, than the EML. Therefore, the devices with an EBL exhibit a higher luminescence and current efficiency than those without an EBL because the EBL have two functions which are blocking electrons and preventing severe quenching by PEDT:PSS.
