제목 | Study on the Acoustic Properties of Probe Lens for Medical Ultrasonic Transducer |
초록 | Ultrasound transducer was used for medical diagnostic scanner and composed of probe lens, piezoelectric material, backing layer, matching layer and housing. The main functions of probe lens were electric barrier, acoustic focusing and chemical barrier, which was very important in respect of performance of probe lens. Generally probe lens was made of RTV silicone or polyurethane. Failures of probe lens were mainly discoloration, deformation and dissolution resulted from improper curing. The objective of this work was to evaluate the chemical resistance of probe lens through accelerated environmental test. Chemical resistance tests were consisted of immersion test and soak & dry test. These tests were conducted in disinfectants such as ethanol(70 vol %), IPA(70 vol %) and Cidex OPA. To evaluate chemical resistance of probe lens, We investigated acoustic properties (acoustic impedance, velocity) and physical properties such as weight increasement, hardness and density according to exposure time. As a result of chemical resistance tests, We found that density of RTV silicone slightly decreased in ethanol and IPA but slightly increased in Cidex OPA according to immersion time. Also acoustic impedance of RTV silicone was approximately decreased to 95 % of the initial value.
