제목 Structure and Property Relationships of Molded Flexible Polyurethane Foams

Polyurethane foam is widely utilized in many applications including thermal insulation, furniture, packaging, and novel applications. Molded foams, a relatively newer technology, are foams in which the formulation mix is either poured into a heated mold or injected into a closed mold.
In this experiment, a series of PU foams having open-cell structure were prepared from toluene diisocyanate(TDI), polyether polyol, 1,2,3-propane triol, silicone surfactant, catalysts and distilled water as blowing agent. These PU foams have been characterized in term of thermal, mechanical and dynamic mechanical properties. Compression set, air flow rate, cell size and its distribution were measured to study the structure-property relationships of PU foams. It was found that the structure and properties of molded flexible PU foams prepared in our experiments were varied by the content of polyol, silicone surfactant, catalysts, crosslinking agent, blowing index and isocyanate index.
