Synthesis of Functionalized Star-shaped Poly(ethylene glycol) UsingAnionic Polymerization Method for Biomedical Applications |
초록 |
Star-shaped Poly(ethylene glycol)s (PEG)s have been developed for various applications in biomedical and pharmaceutical areas. Their smaller hydrodynamic volume and spherical shape allow them to have more efficient anti-fouling properties in comparison to linear PEGs. Star-shaped PEG was synthesized by anionic polymerization in DMSO using diphenylmethyl potassium (DPMK) as a strong base catalyst. Anionic polymerization is the most powerful method to obtain well defined structure. Star-shaped PEG with the molecular weight of 80 K was obtained and the molecular weight distribution was narrower than 1.03. For application to biomedical areas, terminal groups were functionalized with amino groups via chain transfer reaction. Finally, Natural-inspired adhesion agents were introduced into the chain ends of star-shaped PEG. |
