Photocatalytic Conversion of CO2 and Water Vapor to Methane Using Heterojunction p-n-p Cu2O/S-TiO2/CuO |

Photocatalytic conversion of CO2 into useful chemicals is a topic of great current interest within the materials and chemistry communities. While photocorrosion-stable n-type TiO2 has been intensively studied in diverse photocatalytic applications with respect to solar fuels matching of the CO/CO2 and CO2/O2 potentials, as well as broad-spectrum light absorption, requires its combination with suitable semiconductors such as p-type CuO or Cu2O. Herein we report the facile synthesis of a unique p-n-p heterojunction material architecture, tandem Cu2O/S-TiO2 micro-blocks covered with CuO nanowires that show excellent performance in the photocatalytic conversion of CO2 and water vapor to methane. |
