Carbon powders with different morphology were synthesized by spray pyrolysis, and their electrochemical properties were investigated. Sucrose and sodium bicarbonate were used as a carbon source and a base catalyst, respectively. To control the morphology, poly ethylene glycol (PEG) or polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) was added to the precursor solution. Then, the carbon nanosheet was produced when PEG was used, and the spherical mesoporous carbon particles were obtained by using PVP. Each carbon powders showed no significant difference in the porosity, but the electrochemical performance was largely shaped by the morphology and microstructure. From the results, it was clear that the carbon nanosheet is better than the spherical carbon in terms of achieving high ionic sorption capacitance. |
