제목 Preparation and Characterization of Hydrocarbon-based Polymer Electrolyte Membranes containing Metal Ions
초록 Novel hydrocarbon-based membranes for PEMFC have been developed as alternatives of perfluorocarbon-based membrane (Nafion) in recent years. However, relatively poor oxidative stability of hydrocarbon-based membrane impeded its commercialization and its durability under low RH is a critical issue. In this study, we tried to investigate effect of metal ions as radical quencher for suppressing oxidative decomposition of the membranes. Hydrocarbon-based membranes with metal ions were prepared by combining the sulfonated poly(ether sulfone) (SPES) and metal ions. NMR and FT-IR spectroscopy confirmed successful exchange of sulfonic acid groups of SPES to metal ions. In order to evaluate the quenching effect, membranes with various metal loading were prepared and its concentration-dependent properties were analyzed. WU, IEC and proton conductivity was examined and its values showed dependence on amounts of metal loading. Fenton’s oxidative and accelerated OCV tests results will be presented.
