Recently atomic layered 2D nanosheets have keenly attracted in many important technological applications such as electronic devices, biosensor, and membrane-based separation processes. One of potential applications is to use gas-selective atomic layer as a high-flux membrane for gas separation. The main idea is to achieve the active membrane layer with a few nanometers thick for super high flux and high selectivity. In this study we demonstrate multi-layered membranes densely stacked using 2D nanosheet for size-sieving separation mechanism in gas separation. We have achieved defect-free multi-layered composite membranes for gas separation by controlling the effective pathway between such multi-layered sheets via intercalation of metals or organic dopants. These multi-layered nanosheets can be easily transferred on any microporous or nanoporous substrates for practical gas separation applications, which might be a promising material in the field of membrane science and technology. |
