제목 Cobalt-Functionalized Carbon Nanotubes/Carbon Nanofibers Hybrid Catalysts for Efficient Oxygen Electrocatalysis
초록 Oxygen based electrocatalysis has attracted a growing attention from researchers because it is a heart of various sustainable energy conversion and storage systems, such as water splitting, fuel cells, and metal-air batteries. However, slow kinetics of oxygen based reactions (i.e., oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER)) are often hampering their energy efficiency due to large overpotentials for driving the proper reactions. Here we report cobalt functionalized carbon nanotube(CNT)/carbon nanofiber(CNF) hybrid as a highly efficient and cost-effective bifunctional electrocatalyst for ORR/OER. In brief, nitrogen-doped CNT and CNF composites achieved from the pyrolysis of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) driven electrospun fibers and subsequent chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process deliver excellent activity toward ORR, and cobalt nanoparticles encapsulated in graphitic carbon shells facilitate OER kinetics without significant degradation during repeatable operation.
