N-doped TiO2 heterostructures were fabricated by a facile graft polymerization approach. The structure, composition, and optical properties of N-doped TiO2 heterostructures were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The obtained N-doped TiO2 heterostructure exhibited higher photocatalytic activity than pristine TiO2 in the degradation of methyl orange under visible-light illumination. This improved photocatalytic activity contributed to the utilization of a larger part of the solar spectrum, resulting from modification of the electronic band structure in TiO2. |
