Thermodynamic properties of polymer solution provide a key to understand the interaction between two components and the phase transition behavior. Some of fundamental thermodynamic parameters of PDLLA/dialkyl phthalate system were obtained through light scattering experiment and phase separation temperature in our previous study. In this study, intrinsic viscosity of poly(DL-lactic acid) (PDLLA) solution in dialkyl phthalate have been determined at temperatures ranging from 30 to 60oC. A series of dialkyl phthalates were employed to investigate the effect of the solvent quality, which could be controlled by the length of alkyl group in phthalate. The unperturbed dimensions of PDLLA samples were calculated from extrapolation methods. Moreover temperature and solvent dependence of unperturbed dimensions, Flory-Huggins interaction parameter, entropy parameter, enthalpy parameter, and viscosity expansion factor was investigated. |
