Synthesis and Characterization of Silver Nanoparticles and Their Ink-jet Printing Applications |

Inkjet printing is an efficient alternative to conventionalphotolithography for producing various electronic devices and hasadvantages such as low cost, high-speed patterning, and applicabilityto various substrates. However, most inkjet-printing applicationrequire sophisticated synthetic procedures for preparing mono-dispersenanoparticles without particle-particle aggregation in the dispersionmedium. Therefore, the development of a simple and reliable method fornanoparticles based ink in an aqueous solution is still a challengefor its inkjet printing application. In this report, Ag nanoparticlesin presence of poly-vinyl pyrollidone (PVP) as a dispersant suited forinkjet printing have been investigated. As-synthesizedpure Ag nanoparticles were well dispersed in water-ethylene glycolsolvent mixture which was directly used as an ink. Further, usingas-formulated Ag ink we have successfully demonstrated jetting andwriting of various over-printed Ag pattern line on Si/SiO2 substrate.As-printed Ag lines were further analyzed in terms of its resistivitywith varying sintering temperature from room-temperature to 300°C. |
