We have produced TiO2/SiO2 hybrid nanostructures by a simple synthetic approach using cooperative sol-gel chemistry and block copolymer (BCP) self-assembly. TiO2/SiO2 sol-gel precursor is selectively incorporated into PEO domain, and the morphology was controlled by varying the sol-gel precursor/BCP ratio. Changing volumetric ratio of TiO2/SiO2 sol-gel precursor from 5 to 20, nanodot structure transforms into nanowire by the effective change of the constituent volume ratio. The polymer template was removed by irradiation of UV light, to produce template free inorganic nanostructure. The mechanism of structural evolution, inner morphology and properties are investigated by atomic force microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and photocatalytic studies. The SiO2 supported TiO2 nanostructures are found to exhibit enhanced photocatalytic efficiency compared with neat TiO2 ones. |
