Rapid Flame Mediated Reduction Process for Tailoring Electronic and Surface Properties of Metal Oxide-based Electrodes |

Energy conversion and storage have been regarded to be essential technologies associated with clean and sustainable energy economy. It has recently been conducted that various metal oxides can be outstandingly efficient electrical materials by improving their light harvesting and charge carrier separation/transfer ability with heterojunction structure and oxygen vacancy control. In this study, we report the design of the a-Fe2O3/WO3 heterojunction structure whose layers are surface-treated by thermal shocking of ultrafast flame annealing process in a reducing atmosphere. The facile flame annealing method can easily control electronic structure and enhance surface catalytic properties of the metal oxides. The heterostructure and flame-assisted oxygen vacancies of the metal oxides significantly increases charge carrier density and induces a moderated band structure that improved electrochemical performance. |
