제목 Characteristics of rigid polyurethane foams prepared with the polyol recovered from polyurethane wastes
초록 Polyurethane foams (PUFs) are widely being used for mattress, automotive seats, insulation of buildings, and appliances. Generation of wastes after end-of-life PUFs is increasing sharply. Recycling of PUF wastes has become hot issue of researchers and engineers in PU industries. We have investigated chemical recycling of rigid PUFs to recover raw materials which can be used for the manufacturing of rigid PUFs. Glycolysis of rigid PUF wastes was carried out and recycled polyols were obtained from the glycolysis products. Rigid PUFs were prepared with the recycled polyols and characterized. The recycled polyols could be mixed with virgin polyols up to 40% to prepare rigid PUFs without deterioration of the foaming properties. Mechanical and thermal properties of the rigid PUFs based on the recycled polyols were comparable to the properties of the rigid PUFs prepared from virgin polyols
