Preparation of Thermo-Sensitive Hydrogels for Drug Delivery |

The thermo-sensitive polymers are usually made of amphiphilic block copolymers. Many amphiphilic polymers have been used for the thermo-sensitive hydrogels. In the present study, we synthesized methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-co-polyester diblock copolymers composed of ε-caprolactone (CL), L-lactide (LA) and ρ-dioxane (DO) monomers. Molecular weight and molar fraction were calculated by 1H-NMR spectra. The phase transitions of hydrogels were observed by viscometer. The solutions of polyesters were applied for injectable drug delivery system. They are mixed with Fluorescein isothiocyanate-labeled bovine serum albumin (BSA-FITC) and bovine-insulin, respectively. Small amounts of LA and DO changes physical properties. The solutions of the copolymers show gelation at around body temperature. Also, we confirmed that sustained release of BSA-FITC and bovine-insulin through the release profiles. Therefore, polyester hydrogels have possibility of injectable sustained drug delivery system. |
