Three kinds of VDACs (N, N-vinylbenzyl dimethyl ammonium chloride) were prepared by use of VBC (vinylbenzyl chloride) and non-aromatic tertiary amine (N=7, 11, 17). The resultant VDACs were cation-exchanged with NaMMT. Formation of VDA-MMT took just short time and depended on homogeneousness of NaMMT in water. XRD pattern showed that modified MMT with VDAC has larger space between two layers compared with those of NaMMT. Modified MMTs were used to make nanocomposites having better qualities in various purposes. Modified organo-clay/rubber nanocomposites showed exfoliated structure in XRD. The vulcanized properties of the resulting nanocomposites, such as tensile strength, 300% modulus, elongation at break, were measured. |
