제목 Graphene Synthesis under Free Molecular Flow on Confined Metal Catalyst
초록 Chemical vapor deposition of graphene has received much attention for the mass production of large-area graphene. The size of the CVD-grown graphene depends on the catalytic area, which determines the size of the CVD chamber. We suggest a method that uses roll-stacked Ni catalysts to maximize the synthesis area and the efficiency of graphene growth. Graphene grown using this stacked system showed reproducible, uniform properties along the coiled Ni surface. We also systematically controlled the gas flow and size of the interfacial gap between stacks. The confined geometry of the stacked system follows non-continuum fluidic dynamics as the gap decreases; these affect the dissolution of carbons into Ni catalysts. Moreover, the evolution of the catalytic Ni surface under stacked system results in larger grains with increased (111) planes. Graphene growth using a confined coil is suitable for efficient, large-area mass production of high-quality multi-layer graphene.
