We made Ag NPs assembled silica nanoparticles (SiO2@Ag) modified with β-cyclodextrin dimers (β-CD) to detect polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Silica NPs were used as a core for assembling Ag NPs to generate hot spot to enhance the surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) signal. Subsequently, a thioether-bridged β-CD dimer immobilized on Ag NPs was utilized to capture PAHs. The structure of Ag NPs assembled on silica NPs were verified by TEM and the conjugation of β-CD dimer and SiO2@Ag was verified by UV-vis and attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The detecting of perylene, a model of PAHs, using SiO2@Ag@ β-CD dimer NPs have a wide linearity range of 10−7 M to 10−2 M in SERS measurement. Also, we demonstrated the possibility of multiplex detection for various PAH compounds which have distinct SERS bands by the ratio of each PAHs. |
