Hybrid organic-inorganic nanocomposites composed of inorganic nanoparticles and organic polymers are synthesized and can be potentially used in the various fields of specialty coatings, optics, electronics and biomaterials. Silica nanoparticles have been used for a variety of applications by controlling the interparticle aggregation with the method of chemical modification of the silica surface. In the work, hybrid nanocomposites with crosslinking isocyanate functionality for polyacrylates were prepared from modification of colloidal silica (CS) with methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) and 3-(triethoxysilyl) propylisocyanate(TESPI), followed by the incorporation into polyacrylates to improve the mechanical properties and durabilities. The resultant nanoparticles were characterized by FT-IR, UV-Vis spectroscopies. The resulting particles were conducted by TEM, TGA and DSC. Finally their adhesion properties were measured by viscosity, adhesive peel test and thermal endurance test. |
