Microwave Dielectric Properties of (Mg0.95Ni0.05)(Ti1-xSnx)O3 Ceramics |

Dependence of the dielectric properties on Sn4+ substitution for Ti4+-site of (Mg0.95Ni0.05)(Ti1-xSnx)O3 (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.2) ceramics sintered 1400℃ for 3h were investigated. The (Mg0.95Ni0.05)(TiSn)O3 with ilmenite crystal structure as the main crystalline phase and the (Mg0.95Ni0.05)Ti2O5 as a minor phase were confirmed by XRD through the entire of the compositions. The unit-cell volume increased with Sn4+ substitution for Ti4+-site due to larger ionic radius of Sn4+ (0.69Å) than Ti4+(0.605Å). With the increase of Sn4+ substitution for Ti4+-site to x = 0.05, the dielectric constant (ɛr) and the quality factor (Qf) of the sintered specimens were increased due to the increase of the density and grain size. The microstructure of the x = 0.05 specimens showed the homogeneous grain, however the rod shaped of secondary phase also confirmed in the specimen. With increase of Sn4+ substitution for Ti4+-site from x = 0.05 to x = 0.1, the abnormal grain growth was occurred and the density significantly decreased, which degenerated the quality factor (Qf) of the specimens. The temperature coefficient of the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (TCF) and crystal structural characteristics with Sn4+ substitution were also discussed. |
