In this study, the dietary fiber contents of Mozuku residue and the extraction condition of the dietary fiber was investigated. And the amount of the total polyphenols and flavonoids in the dietary fiber from Mozuku residue was measured and anticancer effects were verified through growth inhibition in human colon cancer cells. The total dietary fiber content of Mozuku residue was 72.2%. It was effective to extract soluble dietary fiber with 1.5% Na2EDTA and 0.05N HCl in Mozuku residue. Also, the extraction time and temperature affected the yields of solube dietary fiber. The contents of total polyphenols and flavonoids were the highest in 1% NaOH extract. In the result of viability in human colon cancer cells, growth inhibition on HT-29 cells was observed in D.W., 0.05N HCl, and 0.5% Na2CO3 extracts in a dose-dependent manner. |
