The number of people suffering from hair loss has been increasing. It is of highly important to develop new treatment so we examined the effect of Morus.alba.L root extract(MARE). Here we report that MARE have no effect on cell viability of human dermal fibroblasts(HDFs) in the range up to 20wt%. MARE treated HDFs showed the increased expression mRNA level of growth promoting factors and non-inhibiting factors. To investigate the positive hair growth influence of HDF around the cells, we isolated conditioned medium(CM) from MARE treated HDFs and treated CM to human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs) and hair follicle dermal papilla cells(HFDPCs),HUVECs treated CM exhibited well organized tube formation. In addition, the culture of HFDPC treated MARE HDF-CM promoted the expression of genes involved in the stimulation of hair growth and increased phosphorylation levels of ERK and Akt. These results suggest that MARE may provide a new alternative therapy for hair loss |
