Polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) has the silica-like core containing nano pore. Especially, POSS having organic functional groups which are able to dissolve in organic solvents can be used to many applications. Herein we report new bulk nano particles containing POSS. Specifically, Bulk Nano Particles (BNP) with shell polymer were synthesized and surveyed for stability and morphology. BNP seems like general particle, but it is different that the core has several cages, with 1~2nm pore size. We used thiol-ene reaction of octa-vinyl POSS and POSS-SH using UV to make BNP. Also, the remaining vinyl group of POSS in BNP can be polymerized with various monomers via radical polymerization. |
