One-pot synthesis of silver nanoparticle films using electron beam irradiation |

Silver nanoparticle films have been investigated intensively in recent years because of their high electron conductivity and unique optical properties. These novel properties may find applications such as nanoscale photonics, and sensing. Therefore, it is important to develop an effective preparation method of silver nanoparticle films. In this study, one-pot synthesis of silver nanoparticle films were performed through the reduction of silver alkanethiolate films. The silver alkanethiolate films were reduced using electron beam irradiation. The size-and shape controlled silver nanoparticle films can be synthesized using electron beam irradiation technique by controlling the electron beam energy. The morphology and chemical composition of the irradiated samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), and UV/Vis spectra.
