Anaerobic adhesives are single-component acrylic adhesives which cure rapidly at or below room temperature when air is excluded, but they maintain an uncured stage when exposed to an adequate supply of air. Thus, anaerobic adhesives are widely used for thread, sealants. There is hardly any scientific literature relevant to the cure mechanism of anaerobic ahdesives, which is still obscure except redox polymerization between metal ion and hydroperoxide. The most used anaerobic adhesives, Loctite series use polyethyleneglycol dimethacrylate(PEGDMA) as oligomer and cure system is tertiary amine, benzoic sulfimide, hydroperoxide. This anaerobic adhesives study is conducted using PEGDMA as a model oligomer, and examined the role of cure system that tertiary amine, benzoic sulfimide, hydroperoxide by estimating adhesion strength, initial cure rate, shelf stability. It is expected to know that what is cure mechanism, how much each cure system affect adhesion properties. |
