Cell Cytotoxicity and CytokineModulation ofNatural Herbal Extracts |

Ulmusdavidiana(HD) and Curcuma aromatica(CA) have been used as traditional medicine in Korea and are known to have antioxidant,anti-cancer and anti-allergic activities. In this study, to evaluate the cell cytotoxicity of the HD and CA extracts mixtures (HDCA) on human mast cells(HMC-1),the HD and CA were extracted with distilled water (at 75 ℃) and then the HDCA was freeze-dried for 5 days and sterilized using γ-rays irradiation. The cytotoxicity was measured by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assayand the effects of HDCA on TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8 allergic response in HMC-1 were investigated.These results showed that the HDCA did not significantly affect cell viability and had no toxicity and reduced TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8response on HMC-1 cells. These findings indicate that the HDCA can be used as potential therapeutic agents. |
