Adsorptive behaviors of heavy metals ions(Cu2+, Zn2+, Co2+, Fe3+) on the ion-exchange by commercially available aminophosphonate functionalized ion-exchange resin (Purolite S-950) have been studies for the separation of cobalt ions from wastewaters . The selectivity of ion-exchange resins were determined from simple ion-exchange systems. The experimental results are evaluated by the surface complexation theory. The equilibrium parameters remain in multicomponent systems. By means of these parameter values, ternary and quaternary equilibrias are predicted and compared with experimental results. In this study, the cobalt ions are successfully separated from the simulated wastewaters containing heavy metal ions. |
