Two immiscible polymers dissolved in a common good solvent easily form layered structure just after spin-casting, where the film thickness is about 60nm. From neutron reflectivity studies, we found that purity of top layer spans 80 to 100 %, which is dependent upon molecular weight, while that of bottom layer is 100% using deuterated polymers. Differential evaporation rate of the common solvent embedded in each polymer during spin-casting would be a primary cause for this phenomenon. For high molecular weight, interfacial width between the layers becomes narrower after annealing in vacuum at above glass transition temperature of each polymer. For low molecular weight, however, after annealing interfacial width becomes broader. Detailed experimental finding will be presented. |
