Interfacial rheological study on interfacial adsorption-aggregation-desorption of mineral particles with surfactants |
초록 |
Interfacial behavior of particles in a multicomponent system is necessary to understand to improve or design a new material. This talk will be focused on interfacial layer formation of particles for oil-water emulsion system and its emulsion stabilization effect. Interfacial shear modulus of oil-water interface was measured under the well-controlled loading of surfactant in order to investigate interfacial localization, adsorption, aggregation, and desorption of particles in the presence of surfactant, especially tested with natural clay particles by natural abundance. Depending on the balance of wetting property of particles between oil and water, localized particles responded to surfactant differently depending on ionic characteristics of surfactant. Natural clay particles responded rapidly to surfactants and aggregated. Soon particle aggregates were enhanced to desorb to sub-phase as the concentration of surfactant increases. Organically surface-modified clays relocalized to the interface with the presence of surfactant first and slowly desorbed to the sub-phase. The combined structure of particles with surfactant induce a significant stabilization behavior to the emulsion.
