Nano structures formed from self-assembly of organic and inorganic building blocks have drawn much attention in the field of biology and chemistry due to its potential applications in biomaterials. Among them, peptides have gained much attraction because of its chemical diversity and bio degradability. Peptides have intrinsic ability to form well ordered nano-structures such as fibers, tubes, cages, vesicle, etc. through the self-assembly based on formation of secondary structure and other specific interactions which can find application in tissue engineering, drug delivery, wound healing as biomaterials. In this present work, we introduce nanofibers formed by positively charged peptide amphiphiles. These nanofibers exhibit well defind morphological changes upon conjugation with porphyrine containing tetra carboxylic acid by electrostatic interaction. These nano structures can find application in the area of photodynamic therapy in drug delivery system. |
