Branched PSKS were prepared from 1,1,1-tris(4-hydroxyphenyl) ethane and 4,4-difluorobenzophenone, sulfonated chlorophenyl ketone (40 mol%), bisphenol-A by polycondensation in dimethyl sulfoxide with the elimination of water in N-methylpyrrolidone. The polymers were designed by ratio of amorphous (sulfone) and crystalline (ketone) domains, and flexible narrow channel using branching agent. Branching agent plays a role to improve flexibility and provide narrow channel. In general, branched polymer are known to process increase material melt strength, shear sensitivity, complex viscosity ratio and are particulay well suited in blow molding application. Organic-inorganic composite membranes for operation above 100℃ in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) were prepared, characterized and cell-tested. Composite membranes were obtained by mixing organic polymers, which have a SO3H group as a proton conductor with inorganic material, SiO2, using the sol-gel process. |
