4-Nitrophenol (4-NP) is one of the most ubiquitous organic contaminants and it pollutes our environment. Therefore, it is important to catalyze its reduction to 4-aminophenol, which is less toxic and can be removed from environment easily. In this study, magnetic Fe3O4@C@Co core-shell nanoparticles are synthesized for catalytic reduction of 4-NP in the presence of NaBH4.The Fe3O4@C@Co is synthesized by solvothermal method followed by simple heat treatment. The nanocomposites are characterized by XRD, TEM, BET, and EDX. The catalytic property of Fe3O4@C@Co towards the reduction of 4-nitrpphenol is studied by UV-vis spectroscopy. The Fe3O4@C@Co exhibits outstanding catalytic reduction within 3 minutes. In addition, magnetic nature of the nanocomposite allows simple and efficient separation. |
